Dec. 2024
Teachings: We just finished our series titled, FAQ’s. In this, we spent
time discussing questions that are frequently asked by students.
Including, what does God say about our mental health, should I be
friends with non- Christians, and what is the deal with sin and
forgiveness? We love diving into hard questions and aim to create a
space where any question is welcomed!
In December we will have 3 high school students getting baptized at
AMP! We are praising God for these amazing steps of faith!
In January, we will begin a series titled, How to be a quitter. A 4- week series that explores 4 things to quit in order to experience lasting change:
making excuses, complaining, living in fear, and comparison.
HS Retreat: In November, we took 40 High school students and
leaders on a weekend retreat. The focus was to withdraw from the
busyness of life and create intentional moments to bring our focus
back to Christ, as we know, grow and go with him. Luke 5:16
"But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer." We were able to spend extended time in scripture, worship and prayer for one another. We cooked meals and served one another and also just spent time having fun! It’s an amazing experience to just get away into the woods for a few days and let God redirect you to his purpose for your life.
Volunteers needed!
AMP serves 75-110 students each week! We are in need of more volunteers to help lead students every Thursday! We are especially in need of male leaders to help guide the middle school boys in our community! If you are interested in more details email amp@cheneyfaithcenter.org or stop by our next steps table on a Sunday morning. Leaders are a huge part of AMP! They are the ones who are able to get to know each student in their group and help them as an individual grow in their faith
Blackhawk Chapel: We have an amazing opportunity to bring God's word into
Cheney High school! Every Wednesday students meet for a short time of learning
and discussion about faith. While the AMP staff will be there to help organize and
facilitate, all teaching will be student led! Our high schoolers have an incredible
vision of creating an open and approachable space to grow in faith. And to bring
Jesus to their peers that might not ever find themselves in a church! Please keep
this in your prayers and invite any high school students to join us! It has been
amazing to see students step up to share about their faith with their peers.
Currently we have about 35 students who regularly attend chapel and we are
hoping to grow even more!
Schedule: NO AMP 12/26 + 1/2. We follow Cheney School District cancelations. If the entire day of school or after school activities are canceled, we will not have AMP that day.
Small Groups: We have multiple small groups meeting throughout the week! If you would like more information please contact amp@cheneyfaithcenter.org
Rules and Discipline: We talk with students thoroughly about our rules, expectations and discipline. Our rules can be summed up to respect. We require respect for other students, leaders and our facility. If this is not met repeatedly throughout a night we have a discipline ladder that our leadership follows. If a student must be redirected more than 3 times in a night, must be moved from their seat or must be removed from their small group, the result is a call home. We strive to communicate often with parents in order to work with them to support their student and keep them involved at AMP. If behavior issues continue the student will be asked to take a 2 weak break from AMP. If behavior continues further the student will be asked to take a break until there is a meeting between AMP leadership, our head pastor, the student and their parents. Our goal in this is to make AMP a safe, welcoming and loving place for all that is focused on learning about our faith and having fun!
As always, we love being able to spend time with and disciple your students! If you ever have any questions please reach out to our leadership team at amp@cheneyfaithcenter.org or just find us on a Sunday morning!
